Or do you mean romantically?
:)
Seriously though, the best advice on this I ever heard was to never do something to show someone you love them that you wouldn't do for the rest of your life.
Simply put? If you get them flowers today and you don't buy flowers on other special occasions they might feel you don't love them the same.
I show someone I love them by listening, helping them do unpleasant tasks, spending time with them instead of doing other things (like play on the computer). I touch them, hold them and when I'm not with them I'm always talking about them to others. Word gets back and it's a nice surprise. :)
Buying something can be nice but can also be shallow. Love is something you do, not a price or just a feeling.
Hide little notes around the house telling stories about good memories you have with them.
Take them for a walk and kiss them under a tree you've not kissed under before and tell them you wanted to be reminded of them everywhere you go. Not just at home.
Then clean the house (naked). :)
