As long as children under 18 aren't forced in to marriage, and adults aren't forced into it either, I am okay with it. From what I understand it seems to work out pretty well. I personally couldn't handle being a part of a polygamist marriage, but there are many benefits. For example, if I wanted to work outside the home, chances are someone else in the marriage would be okay taking care of my son while I'm out. That would be a huge help. And even though their would be more house work to do, it wouldn't be as bad if it was shared.

Like I said above, as long as you aren't hurting the innocent, why can't consenting adults get married?

I personally feel it is wrong although growing up in a weastern culture this effects my view. Personally I dont think same sex marriage or polygamy should be legalized but if same sex marriage is legalized I still dont think polygamy should be legalized. Overall I feel it is immoral and wrong and that it should not occur.

I don't believe polygamy is inherently bad. It does open the door for potential abuses. However, any domestic relationship carries the potential of abuse. Perhaps in polygamy, there might be an advantage, since there are more potential witnesses to speak up? Assuming our culture will give men and women an equal voice.

We would need to seriously reevaluate the tax code. At least same-sex marriage is still considered to be a couple. Not sure how some radical Mormons have been dealing with this. ;)

At any rate, I'm not sure that spideybolt or myself are really qualified to answer this question. Neither of us are experts on this issue. Although, while I lack direct experience, I have studied the issue somewhat in the past. I have also been involved in polygamous situations, but nothing "official." I will say, from my informal experience, and knowledge of friends and acquaintances, polygamy seems to be better left to single swingers, it is hard enough to maintain a stable relationship between two people. People should do as they like, but things can get messy and I definitely would not want to see children involved in most of these situations...
