What do you all think of arrange marriage?

I am an Indian. I come from south India and its in our culture to marry a girl chosen by my parents. I havent heard about dating in my life. After seeing some hollywood films, I get to know that stuff. Its not even social to go on a date with a girl here. I still dont know how am I going to get married with a girl I dont even know about. My brother just got married(arranged) and he is in hell right now. Do you want to know the criteria that my parents used for selecting the bride: bride family's wealth and horoscope.

Hi,
We wonder how could we spend our whole life with unknown person. But look at your parents aren't they happy. In India we have this great culture & the now generation is seems to be little afraid of it.
But try think of it like this. Which type of girl you want to be as your life partner? Good looking, Caring etc.. now try to find which type of girl your parent wants for you, of course the same type. Also you can suggest something from your side, like you want a girl who is doctor or who is graduated etc.
Your marriage life depends on you and your partner, how you understands each other after marriage.
There is nothing like you could worry about. Almost every one has to go through this phase.

Arranged marriages are a total failure...You cant expect 2 ppl who dont knw each other to start a life.Everybody has there own expectations.Marriages work out mostly because women here are always shut down and told to be patient or sacrifice their interests for the family.In this generation,everyone prefers to get to knw their future life partner.
