I advise you think twice and do thorough research getting married under Sharia Law. There would be a lot of cultural and religious ramification.
In a nutshell Sharia is Islamic Law based on the Koran.
In Sharia, a Muslim man can take a Christian wife. But your husband may insist you convert to Islam. A Muslim man, can have up to 4 wives. Will you be okay with that? There are also a law on ways to get a divorce.
If you would be living in a Muslim country. There will be a lot of issues regarding Women's Rights. In Saudi Arabia, a woman cant even drive a car.
You mentioned that you are a British citizen. But you never indicated if you are going to be married in the UK. If you are going to be married in the UK. Then UK laws applies and they don't recognize Sharia law.

Abu Dhabi is a liberal muslim country as so a Dubai. But please don't be deceived.
I personally know a female friend who work there, got pregnant by his muslim boyfriend in Dubai. She was forced to go back home here in the Philippines just to give birth to her baby. If she stays in Dubai and the government found out she's pregnant out of wedlock. She would be sent to prison pregnant and give birth to a baby in jail. This might sound shocking but that the law.
RE: failed marriage/wife cant take her child out of the country.
I remember a movie made on that theme. "Not Without My Daughter" Both husband and wife met and got married in a western country. When his husband convinced him to visit his family and Iran. His husband changed and beats his wife. Something he never did when they were together before they came to Iran. When his husband says they are going to stay Iran and are not coming back home. The wife suddenly had no right to say NO to his husbands wishes. She was forced to smuggle his daughter out of Iran illegally.
