I don't think you guys understand, a lot of those websites have a section for a 'reference' like a job reference, only for dating.

You should include all the things about your friend that you like, not just that he is 'emotionally fit' and sterile descriptions like that. Write a list of five reasons you enjoy spending time with him and include them, and if you feel like it tell a funny story about him. The idea is not to make him look like an impressive superman, because it's easy to see through that. Honesty is the best way to do it.

Really though, like with the employment reference equivalent, what you say here matters not so much as that it shows he has a friend willing to vouch for him, who believes he would make a good partner to someone. Good luck to both of you!

Just my opinion but he should really write it himself. It's just a good practice to look at yourself objectively. It will also make him more authentic to potential connections.

That said he could always run past you what he writes. That way he might get the benefit of seeing what other people think before he posts anything. More eyes/brains are always better.

Well you nailed that on the head. He should write it himself he knows what he is looking for in a person and the details of his ow life better then you ever would. I'm not sure why he pawned if off on you but I suggest you give it back. If he can't think of something witty to say then he should stick to the facts as listed in your description listed above until he can come up with a more personable profile.

I agree also. I suggest that if he's at a loss for words and doesn't know to write... that he just be honest and say that. In the times that I've flipped through dating profiles, the ones who were all "I'm smart, funny, your dream-man!" were instantly ignored. The "Well, I don't really know what to write about myself but... I'll give it my best shot. Hi, my name's [x]..." were the ones that caught my eye. They were more real... like I could see the guy sitting on the other end of the computer screen, with a bright-red face, all flustered. Much better than the image of the fake egotistical macho-man who thought he knew it all!
