Will Desmond from ''Lost'' return to the island?

I find ''Lost'' very difficult to follow but at least one of my co-workers is hooked! As far I know, the show now has a time travel aspect but for some reason Desmond seems to be Daniel Farraday's constant, which somehow means Desmond is affected differently by the time jumping. Basically, I have no idea if Desmond will make it back to the island but I certainly hope so!

Of course he will. They all have to get back to the Island and I believe that will mean he will take Penny and baby Charlie with him.
