Sitting on the top floor of a highrise in downtown. Felt like one of the fans/HVAC units coming on at first. Floor shaking in regular pattern, no noise.

But after 5 seconds started to get more pronounced. Not enough to move the chairs. Hanging light fixtures moved a little, like a light breeze blowing through the office. Lasted about 15 seconds. Lights swayed for a minute afterward.

No damage. Just had 3.x aftershock. Hoping that's the worst of it.

I gotta work all night...not fun when the building's a rockin'

I know this isn't supposed to happen, but for a brief period I experienced some strange things while saving my work on an answer. Then I visited the answer board and saw you all had an earthquake. Must have been quite a shaker! At least, that's my excuse. Take it easy, guys!

Sitting on the couch watching Family Guy, could tell it was an earthquake right away. Honestly I was more concerned for the well-being of my TV than that of myself or my girlfriend. We have a fairly heavy piece of art hanging right about it, probably not the smartest placement.

These earthquakes have been getting larger and more frequent. I hate to say it but "the big one" is probably right around the corner.

I'm near Hollywood. The whole room rolled a bit (it seemed to last a bit longer than an average quake). Didn't set off any nearby car alarms, though, as it wasn't that intense. Checking the hallway, I saw the lights swinging from their cables.

You can always tell the big ones because you know immediately that it's an earthquake. With the smaller ones, I often think it's just someone being noisy or a truck going by. This time, I stood up immediately and said "earthquake!"

Good luck to you guys, I hope everything turns out alright and you make it threw the night. :-/ , I've never experienced an earthquake So I don't know either way if it would be appropriate for me to comment on this question. But I hope everyone is ok.

Kind Regards,
