Well, as far as career achievements,
  • most career homeruns by a 2nd baseman.
  • Career Batting avg. of 2.90
  • 2,461 career hits
  • 5 All Star games
  • Lost the World Series with the Giants, won the World Series with the Jays (but didnt play in the series)
I don't think those numbers assure that he's a lock, I think he'll be on the ballot for years to come and maybe some year he'll sneak in (like Jim Rice recently did)

While his stat sheet my make him worthy of the Hall of Fame, I don't think he has enough name recognition and a high enough profile to be a first ballot Hall of Famer. I know that it should just be about the numbers he put up throughout his career, but often Hall of Fame voters make their choices based on other reasons.
