When it comes to finding discounts on hotels, my experience has been the coupons are usually not the way to get the best rate. Here is the problem – most hotel coupons (and car rental coupons for that matter) are based on a much higher rate than you would usually expect to pay when staying at the hotel. Often pricing is based on the rack rate and/or a very high base rate that can be as much as two or three times the “normal” rate.
