If something like this is what you are looking for let me know or if not then give me some direction as to what you would like to express with this logo and I will give it another and a more concise attempt.

M$You can see it live:

(using css @font-face. All text is real, try and highlight it, and is imageless)

Oh and it utilizes the font 'Museo' which is free use, so you can recreate this using plain text (no images) on your site for great SEO :)

M$I like the font colors
that third one is hilarious...use it!!!
I even pick a few of these over my own. I failed to include a tag line and I went with an image, totally unembroiderable if you want to keep the "shimmer" (although the shimmer could be eliminated and the image is two colors). I like #1 & #2, and #5 is similar to what I've got (didn't notice until hours after I submitted--I was focused on producing something).
Great job. Nice clean logos.
wait a second... does that third one look like TechCrunch! :-p

Hah thanks - although meant a newbie on Mahalo - had trouble with the picture upload. I'm professional at the whole graphic design thing...

M$Thanks for the suggestion, but I unfortunately I don't have time to make any modifications in the hope Jason will like it Unless, of course, he specifically asks for it.
Hey, knowing Jason, I would put up different variations of the color scheme to give him more selection. Plus red is overplayed in the industry. Try different shades of blue and green to make it pop as well.
I noticed some people are posting other people's art work, so just to clarify: the above logo is original artwork, designed my me. (Apart from the font of course)
I think you need a rocket ship in it, or something that is iconic of launching. People would love to see something like that. There is a launch community in Dallas that has a logo you should look at below, as well as the launch music conference, and a company Launch Solutions.
Do a search on twitter for the word "launch" and it's neat how you will see a bunch of logos to look at. That's what I did to find some of these, yet I already knew about them all.
LAUNCH in big capital letters seems to work as well.

M$Yeah, I'm with @vladis on this one. I like the Saturn idea, and the last one isn't too bad, but the rockets look kind of cheesy to me.

Yeah, maybe they go with a Saturn type logo or an astronaut on a rocket ship.

M$It's the font in the first image--or it's at least along those lines. I think if it's a typo and it was supposed to say "forget," the comment was perhaps because visually, it doesn't denote "modern." If it was supposed to be "forgot," the commenter simply saw your entry, likely thought it was good, and commented that they "forgot" to use the "Papyrus" font.
?? What is that comment supposed to mean?
Forgot to try using Papyrus

M$- Great typography
- Elegant
- Based on the "launch" theme, but not taking it too far
- Timeless
But what do I know! I only write a successful blog on branding, marketing and design ( http://www.firebrandcreative.ca/ ) If you want to develop it further (ie. colour) get in touch with me.

M$A start button because it's about start ups.
A button, because it's the entrepreneur who needs to do it, who needs to push it.
And a loading page icon which is what you see when a page or program is loading, because when you launch, you're not quite there yet, your start-up is still sort of "loading"
And it's kinda cool / internet-ish
So I jumped in to give you some idea of what I had in mind.
@jason , if this is something you like, perhaps give us some direction.
It would save us some time.
I don't know what color you like, what font, what the spacing should be, how the letters need to be aligned, ...
I thought about using the letters TLC but the domain name isn't tlc.com
Maybe there's someone else out there who wants to take this logo to another / more professional level?
I hope this helps.

M$Another small improvement.
I added some text shadow behind the text.
Let me know what you think.
I added an arrow to see how that looks like. Is it better?
Arrow plus text.
The orange button's vertical position should be in the center of course.
It's not 100% like that but again, this is just to give you guys some ideas on how to improve it. Maybe we need to change the font-size. Or highlight the letters TLC a bit more?
Without the text and I moved the orange button a little bit more to the left.
This should give you a better idea of what I had in mind for a start button which you can find on electronic devices. The circle you normally see on the outside is replaced by a loading-page circle.
The gradient may need some improvement? Maybe we should change the size as well. You decide.
I added shadow to the orange button to make it pop a little bit more.
I was sitting in my office one day in 2004 and I renewed my interest in graphic design. I've been designing logos for about six years.
I usually stick with Black, Navy Blue and Dark Red because they work into almost every corporate scheme (although they can always be changed if needed). I like using silhouettes--they work well.
THIS would look killer on anything--it's got a young-professional crowd , and I've found that the lower-case letters work well--just like in the TED logo. (You sure you're not in there? I'd swear one of those could be you from the photos I've seen.)
I just space everything out more. Fancy fonts can't be embroidered easily--I always keep that in mind, so if you want just the two lines of text embroidered on polo shirts, it's a hell of a lot easier to deal with. (My logos are recognizable even when photocopied.)
This from someone who had to get The University of Maryland's seal--red, white, black and gold--embroidered onto blue summer staff polo shirts.

M$I will however give you my humble opinion, for the bargain price of . . . a shot at $m7.
The font should imply movement (play off of "Launch") and color contrast should be striking*. So italics, with say gold or lime green on black would create an unusual look that is pleasing to the eye.
* Just not red on white! Everyone does red on white. I dislike the TED logo so take my opinion with a grain of salt if you wish.

M$I hate red and white too . I'm more interested in the design. :D so..let's see it! :D
I am fairly slow at graphic design, and I am a perfectionist. If I start designing I can kiss at least an hour of my time goodbye. So this is the kind of thing I do with an handfull of money up front. ^_~
If I have the time between my gaming and game design at home perhaps I will do it for fun, but for now I have some big fish to fry.

M$I went to the source, and it said this:
"This was made for Discoverlifechurch.tv. It will be used for a new kids ministry."
Your catch made me ask myself--and I don't know the answer--if it is an alteration of an already-used logo or of a logo being considered for something completely different.
I found it nowhere on that ministry's site.
A logo designer can make logo for you according to your own requirements - your own design, format.
However I suggest you some guidelines.
Try to develop a logo;
Simple but attractive ( Launch Conference ) . You can use color combination, Lightening blue and shining silver.
Must chose three words tag line or slogan as you did before as; (TED - slogan; Ideas worth spreading)
Easy to use and recall
translate in every language with proper meaning
create uniqueness
innovative design
Thanks

M$Well, to be a little more descriptive about what I like about the last logo (the red version with the tagline, "Define, Design, Develop, Launch!")...
I decided to leverage the natural counter space between the "LA". In this case, I decided to place an object into it, actually projecting from the straight line of the L and the diagonal line of the A. One could interpret this a something being propelled or launched. But, if you look at it again, you could also interpret it as "something" being placed or tossed into the counter space -- kind of like an investment, a chip or an endorsement.
And the tagline is meant to give a little insight as to the content of the conference.
Hope that was a bit more helpful.

Everyone did a super job. I wish I was artistic enough to contribute. I look forward to seeing the final logo that Jason selects for LAUNCH.
