Here are a few tips that should help you with the credit fixing process:
1. Don't fall for scams that tell you to create a new credit file ... that's credit fraud if you do it, and can make you subject to legal repercussions;
2. Do read the Fair Credit Reporting Act so you have an idea of your rights while you go through the credit repair process;
3. Get yourself organized and committed to the process, there is no overnight fix;
4. If you use an online service, you want to know what the fees will be, monthly or "as you go" is best, and you want to be able to cancel at anytime;
5. Always act in a cooperative and professional manner when dealing with creditors or collection agencies;
6. Don't make threats, however subtle, if you can't back them up
I hope this helps:)

M$Upon researching the internet for credit repair services, I found many companies who claim they can erase bad loans or bankruptcies, which legally isn't possible. Many other companies make a promise to improve your score for a price over $100. The majority of these companies use fancy terms that make it seem like DIY credit repair is impossible without "professionals" when in all reality you CAN do it on your own... and for a very little price!
I suggest doing it on your own before relying on a credit repair company. Companies like these often do nothing more than retrieve your credit reports, review them for errors, dispute the errors and try to negotiate accounts with collection agencies in order to settle on balances. These tasks are fairly easy to accomplish on your own if you take the time. You may even be able to negotiate late payments on loans and such that aren't in collections in order to bring you up to speed and help improve your credit if that is an issue.
