looking at buying a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air that had it's top cut off to make it a convertible. Is that a bad thing, mechanically?

Looks like a great car, but is it safe? I know it kills the value but looking for a drive to the beach with kids cruiser. can a convertible top be installed to a previous hardtop chevy?
Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The 1957 Chevy Bel Air is one great car and it's a safe ride too. Having a convertible top installed on the vehicle on the previous hardtop is ok for it doesn't affect the vehicle's performance.
