"Local" Answers? Any chance Mahalo Answers can facilitate getting first-hand information for local/regional questions?
If I have a question about something local, it's not helpful for me to have someone in (INSERT COUNTRY HERE) google my question and post the result. Seriously, it would have been easier for me to do that myself rather than posting the question.
Would it be helpful to add some type of feature to foster these geographic communities? Or is it just better to post "First-Hand Answers Only" in the question... and probably get no responses.
Again, this only applies to when I'm specifically looking for something local. Otherwise I think the system is a great resource to get a variety of well-thought out answers from all around the world.
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I think it would be good to somehow allow the user to upload a Google Map or just a map of some kind when an answer is local. If there were an easy way to embed a map as a feature, that would make things easier to some extent. I know not all users would do this, but some would. Lets say you ask, "What is the best pizza shop in (insert city)?" and you get 5 answers. Wouldn't it be nice to have a map of all 5 of them to see which is closest to you?
My Thoughts.

M$i also think that people are more engaged when question categories have geographical relevance.

M$Besides, you may discover that the information you were looking for could be Googled. The person may find a site where locals are discussing the topic or they may find a first-hand blog post that answers it.

Mmmm... automatic location discovery would be tasty. As long as the results were accurate and reliable that would be pretty interesting.
