It has to be the stove, especially the oven. I worked in the woods for a long time and had to do without. Campfires are romantic for a while and one learns how to cook something besides marshmallows on a stick. One of my favorites was baked potatoes. When a fire has been burning for a while and you have plenty of hot coals you bury the potato and wait (what seems like forever) for a most delicious treat. You can also use a cast iron skillet and position a metal rack over the fire to use. If you want to upgrade, Coleman's are nice and you don't have to worry about uneven heat.
I also love to bake and it is very challenging to bake a cake in a campfire.

Favorite appliance would have to be the refrigerator

Basically changed the way people live..

Take away anything else and I can either borrow it or go pay to use it somewhere else

But can't really borrow a fridge, or go pay to use one like a Laundromat

My favorite household appliance would be the refridgerator as well. It keeps all my food for me and never eats any of it. It is not a hungry refridgerator.
Without my refridgerator I would not be able to survive.

I would say my dishwasher is my favorite appliance. Although it is not the most necessary and I could certainly live without it, it makes my life easier and prevents me from having to do a chore that I despise.

The refrigerator probably changed peoples lives the most.... allowing them to preserve their food for a longer period of time. I remember the first refrigerator at my house as a child... didn't actually have a freezer... there was a very small area that frooze ice cubes in two metal ice makers that had a lever that you lifted that loosened the cubes.... funny the things you remember when you start thinking about it.

I am sure I wouldn't have been happy washing my clothes on a rock... that would get kind of old. I do have a vision of my mothers first washing machine it didn't have a spin cycle.... BUT it did have a wringer on the top.... as you took each item out of the washer.... you fed it through these two rolling pin kind of things and then you hung them on the line. Took a while even then to do the laundry. This is what I remember... but I don't think ours had a power ringer.

My favorite would have to be the blender, especially since it's summer. You can make delicious blended drinks, like smoothies, milk shakes and of course daiquiries to enjoy on a hot day.
