There are many cures of depression without resorting to pills. But it depends on the person for there are different types of depression and there are those others who can cope up without any professional advice.

I experienced depression after figuring in a vehicular accident with my mother and brother. What I did was pray a lot. I asked for God's Holy Spirit to enlighten my mind so that I will know what I should do. Family and friend's support helped me a lot at that time.

I try to direct my energy in accomplishing something so that I won't be idle. I read a lot mostly inspirational books. And looking back, I am glad that I got over it. I know there are things that makes us depressed and discouraged but the what is important is to never lose hope. To never give and try and try until you succeed.

Fortunately for me, I do not need any cure for depression.

However, sometimes when I'm feeling blue some good music can help me to put things back into perspective.

If we are talking about my personal depressions, they were inexplicably caused by certain chemicals in food especially ready made meals, eggs, sausages, some meat, but there was no "pattern" to it. I knew that I was not prone to depressions as I´m a happy go lucky person, but it was a difficult time until I found out. I now live on organic, home-grown food and have no problems whatsoever. Some depressive thoughts might home in again when I eat in a restaurant or with friends, so I "know" what´s happening and just wait until it goes away without panicking anymore. Hope this helps.

I think each person's experience of depression is different (though there are some similarites, of course). However, for me, I don't think there's a cure for my depression. The shadow never quite goes away, but I can learn to manage it by doing things like exercising, eating better, keeping in touch with close friends and family, and being creative.
