- 1932: Pierre van Melle has the idea for a peppermint flavoured caramel candy
- 1950: Mentos production gets started in Rotterdam and starts to ship candies throughout Europe
- 1960: Menots rolls are first available to consumers around the world
- 1973: New flavors of Mentos are introduced (inlcuding cinnamon, menthol and fruit flavors)
- 1976: First Mentos television commercial airs
- 1990: "Mentos: The Freshmaker" campaign hits the airwaves
- 2001: The Van Melle and Perfetti companies merge
- 2005: Mentos releases its first chewing gum
