In California, what do I have to do if I'm getting married in a different county than where I live?
I live in Sacramento County and am getting married in San Diego County. How does that work, exactly, with regard to the legal documents such as a marriage license? Anything else I should know about getting married in a different county?
Thanks all!

"Any county clerk in California may issue a public marriage license which may then be used in another county. You are not required to get married in the county where you purchase the public marriage license however, you must file the license in the county where it was purchased."
You can get married wherever you like, but you have to file the paperwork in the same county that you purchased the license. So, I would purchase the license in Sacramento county, do the ceremony, fill out the paperwork, then do the filing for the license in Sacremento county. I doubt you will have any trouble. I'm sure people are in your situation all the time. It's very common to live elsewhere, but have a wedding ceremony closer to where both of the families live.
You should, though, confirm your situation when you go to purchase the marriage license in Sacramento county just to make sure you're not going to have any headaches.

I doubled checked and it is the same now as it was for me in 2007. You have to come back and file with the petition in Superior Court to establish a Court Order Delayed Certificate of Marriage..

I'm making assumption that you didn't have all the proper info in place first.

I'm sorry, I'm not really sure I understand what you're trying to say. I'm not interested in a court order delayed certificate of marriage... superior court has nothing to do with what I'm trying to do. I'm sorry if I wasn't clear.

no prob....I thought you might be like my spouse and I, military, and didn't have the signed license from the originating church and no one to get it for you....so we had to wait.
