How do I know if the IRS has received my amended return?

I mailed on Feb 09,2009 and want to know if they received it so I when to look forward for my check

Typically you can follow the link below and click on where's my refund. However, amended tax return information is not available through that link and you will need to call the IRS directly at 1-800-829-1040. I would recommend that you call early in the morning or you might get shunted to voicemail and told to call back. Either way expect a wait when you call.

Not really an answer for you but, in Canada we have a govt. website that we can check and amend our tax returns, see the status of our refund etc. Takes a bit to set up but I have been using it up here for a couple of years, maybe the IRS/usgovt. has something like ours set up as well?
