That's a tough one. Yes there are websites you can look up all sex offenders in cities and I believe within a 2 mile radius of whichever address is put in. However depending on the sex offenders Level, and which state you are in, for example here only level 2 and 3 is made apparant to the public, Level 1 is not visible unless a background check is done, so with that said the reason for you not being toldmight be because of that persons level. However you could probably get a lawyer, atleast have a meeting with one, or even a public defender and they can give you more insight on your question and possibly steps to take to either break the lease or even have the sex offender removed. The removal will most likely depend on everyone in the apartment complex though, so that probably wouldn't be the first option. Good luck!

I don't believe so. It is her responsibility to tell you about the property in question. It is the buyer's responsibility to figure out the neighborhood. The Megan's Law website is free! Don't take this as gospel, because these laws vary from state to state. You could always contact the landlady and ask her how that works, but as I understand it, all the pertinent terminology will be located IN the lease. If it's not mentioned there, it probably isn't actionable.

I think the better question is whats the farthest hotel away can i stay at while bubba and his friends move your stuff out of your home... If there is someone next door that was a child sex offender regardless of your lease you got to think about your well being no matter what. You should put no price on your safety.

I hope this opens things up a bit.

Thanks Mike !
