Last night I was watching the Milwaukee Brewers and the Philadelphia Phillies. They were wearing the retro uniforms from the mid 197
0's. The announcers were reflecting on past players who wore the uniform numbers the current players were wearing. The Phillies uniform last night was worn from 1973 through 1988 and was mentioned that Jamie Moyer was the only player who is still active that actually played when those uniforms were in existence. Does anyone else enjoy watching the games with the retro uniforms? I love it, brings back memories from my childhood sitting and watching the games during a time when the game was more enjoyable for me.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Kerry, I could not agree more. People always talk about how ugly those uniforms were, but something about them just calls back what seemed like a much simpler time. I used to love the old Houston Astros uniforms simply because they were so damn ugly. Now every team is trying to look hip and cool.
It’s just the actual mascots on teams today. I still remember the huge grinning bird that was the Baltimore Orioles mascot and I used to really dig it. Maybe it’s simply because I understand how much more of the game is really all about business, but it just seems like the game used to be more about fun than who was getting paid the most, or how long the contract is for. On the occasion when I’ll play a baseball video game, I’ll still make sure whatever team I’m playing with has a throwback jersey available, and they always wear them when I’m in charge.

I agree with you. All the uniforms were unique, didn't matter how ugly they were, all special in their own way. Wish the game was like it was back then!
