Use JungleDisk. They back up to Amazon S3, and I pay between $10-25 per month to backup my 80GB MacBook hard drive. (The price varies because Amazon charges based on the amount of storage + bandwidth - so if you're uploading/downloading frequently, that's when it gets closer to the $25.) You can use JungleDisk as a network drive, so it's pretty much exactly a Time Machine in the clouds.

How many gb are you looking to back up?
I would visit getdropbox.com and watch their demo video. It is not a true backup service per se, but as a frequent traveler you might really like some of the features.

I have used the free 2gb service for a few months and have been very happy. The message board is also helpful and full of staff willing to fix bugs and add features (much like Mahalo Answers).
