Kids Eat Free at IKEA. How is the food?

How is the food at IKEA? Is it worth a trip to get a free kids meal?

Promotion available: June 23rd - July 5th, 2010

From the US IKEA website:

''Choose any three kid-sized items to create a meal, including five meatballs, mac and cheese, PB&J sandwich, kids yogurt, two cookies, chocolate milk and more! No adult purchase necessary. Kids under 12 only. $2.49 value. Store participation varies.''

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

k2k,

My kids really love eating at Ikea. It isn't like a regular kids meal, because the kids often choose the Swedish meatballs as their main course. My kids enoy the taste of the meatballs, and like it just because it is something different.

Also, the atmosphere of the Ikea cafeteria is fun for the kids, which always seems to trump their opinions about the food. They have televisions set up for the kids to look at and special sections with childrens furniture and tables for them to sit in groups.

Meanwhile, parents can sit along the large window that often overlooks the parking lot and surrounding areas in town. This can give you a nice break while the kids are munching and pointing at the strange light fixtures.

For adults, I suggest getting the smoked salmon salad. It isn't too costly, it's healthy and it really tastes great.

Hope this helps. You've actually just given me a great story idea.
