Just saw the video on the derecho storm. Another product of global warming, perhaps?

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), a derecho is a widespread and long lived windstorm that is associated with a band of rapidly moving showers or thunderstorms.
Their records indicate that many significant derecho events have occurred in North America (typically in Canada and the United States) for decades, which would not support an argument for near-term global warming being a root cause.
