I would recommend BBC to anybody who is interested in watching news rather than being entertained by current events.
CNN, Fox News and MSNBC are all profit driven and have to come up with innovative story lines and tricks to entice viewers and advertisers, yes advertisers, when was the last time you heard a critical piece about the pharam industry on one of those networks.
BBC is much like PBS in the USA and CBC in Canada, it's a public broadcaster owned and paid for by the taxpayers, meaning there is no incentive to make money, they are a news agency that is designed to seek the truth and present the news as they see it. What a beauty concept.

Regardless, I am aware of their biases and keep them in mind when reading or watching and still feel there is less bias from the BBC than from Fox or CNN.

That said, @jeffhoard gave you a very good point: there is no motivation to take sides when there is no gain.

Yes, I would say the BBC provides better coverage of the United States than CNN, FOX, etc. There is also some very good French and German coverage of the United States. However, the BBC is not a totally independent organization. During the Iraq war the British government used its power to bias BBC broadcasts about the war to support the British government's positions.

• You actually unintentionally answered something else I had been wondering which is if the BBC is paid for with tax dollars.

The BBC's charter states the service must be: "free from both political and commercial influence and answers only to its viewers and listeners".However, every so often they conduct regular charter reviews to determine bias, and the results are very interesting...

The BBC is one of my main of news, not the TV version but online. It is the least biased of any news source that I know of. However, I also follow Reuters, my local newspaper the Times-Picayune, and especially Google news. Google news searches all the other news sources, so from there one sees all sides of any question or event.

Your question itself leads to believe that they are biased and you are asking how much. What you should be asking is "Is BBC America's World News biased? If yes, how much?" That said, @jeffhoard gave you a very good point: there is no motivation to take sides when there is no gain.

Through political influence, broadcasters are biased to support domestic political agendas. Foreign broadcasters often provide more balanced coverage than domestic broadcasters. For example, Chinese news organizations often provide some excellent foreign news coverage while I would not recommend Chinese news broadcasters for news about China.Yes, I would say the BBC provides better coverage of the United States than CNN, FOX, etc. There is also some very good French and German coverage of the United States.
