I would look at some job description postings to give you an idea of what the employment currently entails. You should be able to find some descriptions on websites like monster.com, careerbuilder.com, indeed.com and hotjobs.yahoo.com.
I also found a couple by googling.. Here are some examples....
http://www.entertainmentcareers.net/id/?id=101278
http://www.media-match.com/jobtypes/master-control-operator-jobs-413169.php
You can also find key words related to the occupation that are used in job searches at http://www.job-search-engine.com/keyword/media-control-operator.
You can find occupational outlook information and other names for the occupation at http://occupations.careers.org/27-4031.00/camera-operators-television-video-and-motion-picture.

Please describe your job as a master control operator at a local digital television station?
I used to work in television, in almost every production job. I spent a long while as an MCO at a CBS affiliate, and stayed there after we became an independent station. So i know what we used to do. (Monitor the transmitter, make sure the legal IDs run, play the local commercials, record feeds, maintain the log, play back previously recorded feeds, etcetera.) I'd like to know what the job is like now. Do you still use ANY tape? Do syndicated feeds come in via satellite still, or is it all FTP or other data transfer? I would like to interview you via email or skype so I can spimd like I know what i'm doing for any stations I might apply to for an MCO position.

this is a position i held for 3 years ... 15 years ago. (back when television was produced using stone knives and bear skins.) mostly, i'd like to pick the brain of someone who does it today, with modren equipment. also, NO two stations are the same. so an MCO at one place will have different responsibilities than her counterpart across town. thanks for your well researched answer. (but i'm looking for first hand experience.) also, since you answered the question, i asked an admin to change the wording from "describe the job" to "describe your job." you answered the question as it was. it was my fault for not asking it better.
