The best way to be able to work a full day is to have work to do. Perhaps you could point out tasks that you could be doing instead of going home. Even if your manager says no to doing those jobs, you'll be viewed as a "go getter." A lot of times, these things can also just be a form of workplace favoritism, so some brown-nosing might not be a bad idea.
