Additional analysis is available from http://www.techamerica.org/cyberstates-2009-minnesota. This is summary of data analyzed through 2007. This data comes from same source as article in your original question. Looks like they 2007 had a net gain of 1600 jobs reflected in a gain in 2 sectors and a loss in 2 others. So this should be apples to apples comparison of the numbers.

Information sources in my original answer may not have direct correlation. Depends on how they define high tech. Doesn't look like the count tech jobs at non-tech companies, so a bit under-reported.

The article revealed that Minnesota's high-tech industry added 500 net jobs in 2007. Minnesota is not a high tech state.
