What are some must-sees when going on a trip to Japan?
I'm hoping to go visit some friends in Japan next year, and would like to take a few days to see the highlights of the country. I'm flying in and out of Tokyo, but will be visiting Hokkaido as well.

Some great sights outside Tokyo:
Ride a bullet train (shinkansen) between Tokyo and Kyoto. -- it's just 2.5 hours, and the train itself is an experience.

In Kyoto, see the Golden Pavilion Temple -- gorgeous

1. go to the Tsukiji fish market at 6am and eat sushi dai

it's amazing to walk around the market and see the madness!
2. Go to the Akihabara and buy a camera or robot--or just walk around. it's crazy!
