It is -5 degrees in Michigan tonight. Got an ideas on a fun activity?

If you have Netflix, try going outside your usual categories. Try browsing around on the website without being logged in, or go to a movie review site and look at categories you wouldn't normally try. That might be Foreign Films, or it might be Thrillers. You can do this easiest if it's just you, because you won't have to have a debate about it, but if you get along well with the people you're with, you might be able to do it with a crowd, too. A great foreign film to check out if you haven't seen it: The Butterfly. Not a lot of dialog. Beautiful and funny, and you can watch it even if you have kids in the house, yet it's not tame.
Download Kindle to your PC, if you don't have a Kindle or smartphone with the Kindle ap installed, and poke around Amazon's site to find free books.
Go to http://damnyouautocorrect.com and laugh your head off (warning: mostly not child-safe, because the people making autocorrection software for some reason throw in loads of dirty slang). Same thing with http://www.awkwardfamilyphotos.com, http://www.engrish.com, etc.
One thing we did when I was a kid, snowed just south of you, was to go through my mom's collection of game books. She was a teacher and had bought several collections of books of games that could be played in a crowd. I also collect antique books, and as a kid had a Victorian "household encyclopedia" that included a lot of games. Believe it or not, people managed to have a lot of fun before the advent of electricity! Some of those games are hilarious, and others really are a challenge. They go far, far beyond Charades.

M$Roller skating is still a big hit in some areas, it's inside and warm.
If you don't mind going outside, there is cross country skiing, which also has a lot of rental equipment available. There are also some very comfortable indoor ice skating rinks with rental skates available.
Outdoor hot-tubs are fantastic in the winter. Be sure you don't overdue and watch your alcohol consumption (dehydration is a danger).
Go see a band. Now that Michigan has the nonsmoking law in bars, nightclubs are much more tolerable.
Taking dancing lessons. Country line dancing, ball room, swing, it doesn't matter, get out there and shake your groove thang.

If all else fails, go visit some relatives or friends and make THEM think of something to do!
