It is 2 am and no one is up but you, do you ever go wake up the rest and ask them to join you at Denny's? Is this rude?

M$I imagine that some people would be very annoyed at this while others don't mind at all. So, it depends on the individual personalities you are dealing with and what reason you really have for waking them. I could see where it can be fun to be spontaneous like that, especially if none of you has to get to work early.
Also, perhaps they'd be understanding if you have something that is weighing heavily on your mind and you truly need to get out of the house. When people are going through a period of terrible grief or stress, they sometimes need those around them to go the extra mile and offer the comfort in whatever form is desired at the time.
Just so you all know, I don't particularly like Denny's. So if you insist on waking me up, make sure we're going somewhere more appealing to me. ;) Perhaps you'd simply allow me to make you something good to eat or drink right in my kitchen instead, especially since I'm often awake at that hour anyway.

M$Second of all, I hate Denny's.
But taking the conundrum for its spirit, if not for its exact wording, I wouldn't wake anybody up. That's just rude. When people are sleeping, they want to be asleep; it's a decision they've made for themselves, health-related possibly. So I won't disturb them, even if I thought dinner might be fun. It won't be much fun, anyway, if they're crabby that they were just woken up.

M$For example, if I got a phone call about a relative who had been fatally injured and I wanted to discuss going to visit them, I might wake him. I can see us going out to Denny's for the discussion, too, being to anxious to fix anything at home.
Another example might be if I was really upset and couldn't shake it -- perhaps I suddenly realized I was never going to be a star ballet dancer (or whatever my lifetime dream was).
Other than urgent news or urgent emotion, yes I think it is rude to wake people from their sleep -- especially if they have to go to work after their normal sleep period is over.
