M$As far as fixing it microsoft hasn't commented yet, but I think it is reasonable to assume you'll get some kind of compensation for this public relations nightmare, microsoft has enough angry customers without this.

gizmodo posted a guide to getting zunes running again. as the article says, it might not play nice with microsoft's fix when they finally get around to it, and it might void your warranty, but if you can't wait to get your zune working again it looks like this is your best bet. good luck.
