Is writing for sites such as Textbroker where you retain no residual rights, but gain a small upfront payment worth it or a bad idea?

Tip for best answer: M$0.11
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Textbroker pay an average of 2.00 to 5.00 per article depending on the word count, however it is usually closer to the 2 dollar mark. Demand Studios, Factoidz and Associate Content pay more for thier up front payments. Demand Studios being the highest of the three as they on average pay 15.00 per article and they pay twice a week. But if your writing is only average then text broker is the best bet because Demand Studios expects you to be close to perfect and can be a lot of work but they pay good.

I Have worked for Textbroker and they pay very little for your time and you also should note that you only get paid if the client actually accepts your article.

Though you do get paid after making $10 or more unless you are fast and good writer you have to write in my experience way to much to time for the payout. I would personal stick to sites like this one Mahalo you will make more money here and the topic you get to write on are actually fun to write about unlike Textbroker..

I have actually made decent money on Textbroker, Constant content, and similar sites. It all depends on how connected you want to be to your work. Ghostwriters have existed for a long time, and Textbroker is a very dependable site. Some writers like to keep bylines and rights, so they use Associated Content. Others feel like content work is similar to painting toys in a factory - it may be art (writing) but it's more an hourly deal. It also depends on where a writer is in their particular career.

The reason I have written for Textbroker is because it's steady, simple work that I can complete quickly and efficiently. For me, it's just freelance etc. work. Though I pride in my work, I do not have a deep attachment to content. Instead, I write fiction for the byline, content for steady backup money.
