Is wildlife photography dangerous?
Should I worry about my son being a wildlife photographer? Do wildlife photographers ever get attacked by animals?

Wildlife photography can be dangerous. Anytime you are dealing with any wild animal it can be dangerous. However most wildlife photographers work at safe distance from the animals. They use extremely long telephoto lenses of 500mm or greater. When working in dangerous situations they always have an armed guide with them. You can learn wildlife photography by photographing animals that are not real dangerous like deer and horses before moving up to lions and tigers and bears.
A few years ago Steve Irwin was killed by a stingray while working on one of his shows. His photographers were at a safe distance and uninjured. Normally the sensational stories like that of Irwin make people think that it is more dangerous than it really is. Very few wildlife photographers are killed or even injured on the job. They are more likely to break a leg while climbing to spot to photograph the animal than by the animal itself.
