Is today ''Star Wars'' Day?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

May 4 is known as "Star Wars Day" because of a play on words. "May the force be with you" vs. "May the 4th be with you!" Be sure to wish the ''Star Wars'' fan in your life a Happy Star Wars Day! Today would be an excellent day to watch the original 1977 George Lucas classic (released on May 25) or any of the ''Star Wars'' films that followed.

I didn't know that! (probably because I was born on the 'dark side')

There is no 'official' reference about this. The only information available is from Wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Day

It is a pun
-- quote --
based on the similarity between "May the 4th be with you" and "May the force be with you", a phrase often spoken in the Star Wars movies.
-- end quote --

There is no official holiday but it got this moniker because "May the 4th" when slurred sounds like "May the force". I don't really get it. But some people need a reason to celebrate life. So any reason is a good one!

Good Luck!
