Is there software available that can translate WAVs from the audio of TRS-80/PET data tapes back into code?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Try one of the utilities on this site: http://home.online.no/~kr-lund/Archive.htm
I can't test it myself; but, I think they still do this sort of thing in Europe.

Hey, that looks like what I might be looking for! I'll give it a try and see (open to other suggestions of anyone else has another resource).

Since you are talking about a technology that is from the 70's (TRS-80 first being released in 1977) the chances of finding software for this specific purpose are slim. Even so, if you have a way to play back the audio from the data tapes just about any simple audio mixer software will allow you to record, so long as you find a way to connect the tape up to your computer via analog audio.

I have the audio in WAV format; that's not a problem. Also, there is a fairly deep emulator community that's written software for TRS-80 and PET emulations, so I know that it's possible someone may have encountered this problem before. Just wondering if someone else has done it before I write the software to do it myself. :)
