Yes, but it is extremely rare. If you are seeking for it to be given to you, you are most unlikely to find it outside of a direct spiritual experience, but if you wish to show it, you can most certainly grow in your ability. It is difficult. It is a challenge to the ego. And, in my opinion, it is the only way to live a life that is worth the effort of breathing.

As you walk upon the path of Love, you will find friends, companions and true lovers. Eventually, you will move past time and space and find the place where Love always dwells.

I realize that this may not be the kind of answer you seek, but it is the only answer that suffices for me. I have been to the place of which I speak. For more thoughts on the topic, beautifully expressed, try

YES! I completely believe that unconditional love exists. Here a personal experience:

My daughter's dad, was convinced that there was no such thing as unconditional love. We dated only about 2 months before I became pregnant with her. I personally saw his transformation of disbelief to understanding what unconditional love is. It was the most beautiful sight as he looked down at his new born daughter. His love for her shone in his face the moment he held her just minutes after she was born.

We have a choice to love unconditionally or not. Unfortunately, when you are raised in a critical environment, it may take years to understand. If you have never received unconditional love it takes special moments to be able to give it and sometimes receive it.

On the other hand, some people have always know it's existance and freely give and receive it.

That was kind of broad. but i guess, if you mean accepting or loving the person for what they are, for what they believe in is a form of unconditional love. Unconditional love is often and is frequently used to describe the love to a family members, friends or any other committed relationship. I believe that unconditional love is describe best when Jesus sacrifice his self to save the world and redeem us from our sins. God's love is unconditional as often describe in bible text and in any religious teachings.

In dogs, yes. In humans, I don't think so, because every human being has certain limits they would draw. For example, discovering your wife was a serial killer might make it hard to love her, even after many years.

I would like to believe that unconditional love exists, but so far (after almost 50 years of life) I have only ever encountered truly unconditional love among dogs.

I know a lot of people say "a mothers love for her children is unconditional," but they didn't know my mother. Frankly, the abuse and neglect (not to mention repeated murder attempts) I suffered at her hands are the single biggest reason why I have been unable to enjoy healthy, successful relationships with women.

At this stage of my life, I have given up hoping, or trying to find unconditional love with a woman, so I'm probably not the best person to answer this question.

Still, I'd have to say that dogs are it...I know of nobody else who will always love and accept you just as you are, no matter who you are or what you do.

Of course not, its a silly question. But it doesn't matter. That's the problem. People want to put all these value judgments on what is just reality. No one will love you unconditionally, NOT EVEN A DOG (kick it a few times and you'll see what I mean). And so what? Love is selfish, even if it feels like it is not. Its a good feeling that attaches you to someone else which helps perpetuate the species by giving some kind of advantage to the offspring of couples who are in love. That's all we can say for sure about it.

That said, love yourself and everyone else will love you too.

Most people whining about unconditional love are really just annoyed someone doesn't love them, or want to be around them, because they smell bad or behave poorly. They think they deserve love anyway. Pretty damn selfish.

It depends on the person. With me, probably not. Some other people probably do have it.

No. But, that's not as bad as the one word answer makes it out to be. Let me explain.

Love is what draws us all closer to each other. When people talk about unconditional love, it tends to be in the "I'd do anything for you without thinking of myself" realm. But I feel that line of thought is conditional in itself.

Why would you do anything for that person without thinking of yourself? Does it make you feel good? Are you afraid of how you would feel if you did not? Would your self-image be damaged?

Love is love. This world runs on conditions. Love in this world is conditional.
