Is there any way to predict how crowded it will be at Mammoth Mountain? When's the best time to go?

I'm trying to plan a trip to Mammoth (http://www.mammothmountain.com/) and was considering going the weekend of 2/14, but I'm worried it's going to be really crowded. Is there any way to predict how crowded it's going to be each weekend over the next couple months? What's the best time to go to Mammoth?
Tip for best answer: M$5.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The best snow to be had is usually in January, so that's when it's most crowded too, it will still be pretty packed when you go. The lift price has gone up to $83 a day though, so the crowds will be a bit less than previous. There's no way to predict how many people will show up, but if you watch the weather reports you will get a general idea of how crowded it will be, as a couple of days after a big dump the slopes will be a minefield of opportunistic boarder kids.

High season: late November to late April, July to August
Low season: September to October
Shoulder season: May to June

Crowd Information:
Mammoth is most crowded in winter, especially during holidays. The busiest times are during Thanksgiving break, the two weeks around Christmas, Presidents' Day Weekend, the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, spring break, and August.

Depending on snow conditions, the ski season starts in November but doesn't really get cranking until mid-January. Any given weekend from January thru March is full of activity.

The three-day President's Day weekend (mid-February) is the by far the busiest time of the year. Acquiring reservations during that time requires advance planning of at least one month.

Good conditions often last well into June, although by that time much of the Southern California party crowd has put the skis and snowboards in the garage and reclaimed their surfboards and rollerblades.

The mountain offers several value lift ticket packages to make lift tickets more economical and typically the Ski Area will stay open until mid-June - sometimes until July 4th.

After Spring Break, the skiing is cheaper and less crowded, making for perfect conditions. The snow is generally firm in the morning, then it softens up by midday, making for powder-type skiing.

Not surprisingly, its big SoCal drive market tends to make Mammoth "crowded on weekends and holidays.

The mountain has been working with local city officials to add major air service to Mammoth Mountain and, theoretically, attract planeloads of skiers who will not just visit the resort on often-crowded weekends, but during mid-week when slopes are much less congested.

I also found this site http://www.visitmammoth.com/coupons/index.cfm

which has a lot of special offers for the month of February for hotels, lift tickets, dining, spas and shopping.

If you are worried about the crowd, you have picked the perfect wrong weekend.

President's Day weekend is by far the busiest time of the year at Mammoth Mountain. This year from 02/14 to 02/16!
