Is there any way to predict how crowded it will be at Mammoth Mountain? When's the best time to go?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Good conditions often last well into June, although by that time much of the Southern California party crowd has put the skis and snowboards in the garage and reclaimed their surfboards and rollerblades.

The mountain offers several value lift ticket packages to make lift tickets more economical and typically the Ski Area will stay open until mid-June - sometimes until July 4th.
After Spring Break, the skiing is cheaper and less crowded, making for perfect conditions. The snow is generally firm in the morning, then it softens up by midday, making for powder-type skiing.
