Is there another free picture editing program other than GIMP?

GIMP is an Open Source Image Editing Software package. It runs on most Windows platforms and on Mac using OS-X with X11. There are other free image editing programs for both PC and Macintosh Computers. .
Paint.Net is an intuitive software product and much easier to grasp than GIMP or Photoshop. It is free to download and works well in Windows environments. It is not compatible with Macintosh computers.
Picasa is a free image management and photo-editing tool from Google. It works within a browser type of environment on both Mac and PC. It automatically updates your catalog every time you add or view an image, which can be annoying but you can adjust the settings. There are a lot of other free editing programs including Seashore and Tux Paint for Kids but none really approach the complexity and depth of GIMP.
