Is there an opera house in Chicago, Illinois?
What sort of cultural events are there in Chicago, Illinois? Is there going to be a performance of the Nutcracker this holiday season?

The Lyric Opera of Chicago has some great performances. You can see their schedule here: http://www.lyricopera.org/
However, The Nutcracker is a ballet, and in my opinion, the best one in the Chicago area is at the Auditorium Theatre by the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago. More information is available at http://www.auditoriumtheatre.org/ & http://www.joffrey.com/ respectively. It runs through December 26th this year.
