Is there a web browser plugin that adds a search bar that searches the website currently being displayed?

Example: If I were to search for "shoes" on this website, I would get search results for this website only. This would be similar to one of the features of Google that makes it possible to search for details within a specific site.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

While those toolbars add a search box to your browser, they do not allow you to search just the site currently open

Google Toolbar actually has a Site Search button included.

You can create your own site search, but the method shown here is for Firefox and limited to the site you program into it.

I think the solution to this question would be to search "site:SITEADDRESS your search" on Google while using a Google toolbar installed in your browser so that you can search the entire website while it is being displayed on the screen as requested in the question.

True, Greasemonkey would be a good approach.

The question asked for a plugin that adds a search bar for site search. Google already has one built in. The link I provided allows you to create a site specific search in a plugin fashion yourself, but the site is hardcoded, not dynamic.

It would be possible to add a custom search bar to every page using a GreaseMonkey script, but I don't have a lot of web development experience, so I can't easily implement it myself.

You can search for content on a website currently being displayed by using the keyboard shortcut ctrl + f.

Step 1

Hit the "Ctrl" key (lower left area of your keyboard) AND the letter "F" key at the same time (simultaneously) - A little pop-up window will appear.

CTRL + F (Try it Now! )

Step 2

Enter the word you are looking for ( in most cases you only need to enter the first 3 or 4 letters of the word)

Enter the word (most times you only need the first 4 letters)

Step 3

Click on the "Find Next" button once or twice: your computer will automatically locate and highlight the word you are looking for. Each additional time you click on "Find Next" you will be brought to the word again.

That method only searches the page you are currently browsing, not the whole site.

Not that I know of, But you can always use a nifty Google trick, by google searching:

site:SITEADDRESS your search

e.g site:macys.com shoes
would return all results of shoes on Macys website.

Sorry, the ctrl + f shortcut would be used for searching the webpage currently being displayed, not the website.

Yes, searching "site:SITEADDRESS your search" on Google would allow you to search for content on a specified website.
