Is there a way to use the Wii Shop channel after installing the Homebrew channel?

I really want to get some WiiWare but when I tried to open the Wii Shop channel it told me to enable WiiConnect24. I know that enabling this is a big no-no for softmodded Wiis, so is it possible to access the Wii Shop channel without WiiConnect24?
Tip for best answer: M$0.75
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I've been using WiiConnect24 with my softmodded (only HBC and DVDx, no menu hacks or otherwise) Wii for ...ever since the HBC was released I guess. I've been on the Wii Shop Channel too, the biggest issue is that you have to keep your Wii Menu up to date and updating it often breaks homebrew (so you may have to reinstall the homebrew channel after updating the menu, which sometimes you have to wait for a new exploit to come out before you can reinstall the homebrew channel).

I have never had the HBC deleted by an update, but there were updates that deleted or broke compatibility with certain other homebrew applications. It is always possible that a new update could uninstall the homebrew channel but there are ways around it that Nintendo cannot patch (the Smash Bros. Brawl exploit uses custom stage data loaded from an SD card, all of the code for this exploit is on the Brawl disc and thus Nintendo cannot change it unlike the original Twilight Hack which used a save file located in Wii memory where the menu could delete the hacked save before loading the game).

Have a homebrew enabled Wii console and have been using it since the Homebrew Channel and Twilight Hack came out.
