Is there a way to run Final Fantasy VII in a window in Windows XP?

I have the old Final Fantasy VII for Windows, and would like to run it in Windowed mode on my high resolution Windows XP system. It doesn't seem to support the -window flag. Any way around this?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I can't guarantee it will work, but try using DxWnd (http://www.nynaeve.net/?p=52). This forces games into a window by 'tricking' them into thinking they're full screen.

I've successfully used it with old games in the past - hope that helps!

Doesn't seem to work. A 640x480 window pops up on my screen, then closes again.

Sorry to hear it doesn't work - it isn't able to do all games. It does need the VC runtimes (linked on the same page) to run though, in case you missed this step - otherwise I'm out of ideas :(
