Is there a tutorial for using the page management programming language in Mahalo?

I'm working on updating my pages, but I having a little difficulty due to some of the constraints of the interface--for example, I'm not sure which HTML tags work and which ones don't, and I don't know how much we can change the layout of the pages (can we insert tables, etc?)

If this is a standard language, is there an index/glossary somewhere of all the terms and tags we can use?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Mahalo seems to use the MediaWiki system (which is also used by Wikipedia), and the majority of its syntax can be used here. Obviously a few things, such as templates, links to other languages, etc. won't work here, but for basic linking, heading structure, and bold/italics, this should be a good place to start:

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Formatting

< ref > seems to be Mahalo-specific, though.

Trying the markup on one of my pages.

Numbered lists work up to 9, then they go 0,1,2... again.

Bullets don't appear at with the mediawiki type markings.

Thanks for the cheatsheet. Very useful.

What do you mean by "< ref > seems to be Mahalo-specific, though"?

< ref > tags (without the spaces) create footnotes for you. For example:

Apple sold 4.4 million iPhone units in the first quarter of 2009 < ref > http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2009/01/21results.html < / ref >

That would add a footnote number beside it, and a link to the bottom of the page where footnotes are listed.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I second it.

I'd like to know more about the ways we can mark up our pages. Even the basic stuff about how to have some text which hyperlinks to a url somewhere is something I can only discover by trying to find examples and seeing how it was done there.

An example of the kind of things I'd like to be able to do:

Instead of the automated list building which makes something that looks like this...

Section Heading

1. First thing
2. Second thing
3. Third thing

.... I'd often like to format it like this...

Section Heading

A little paragraph to explain just what this stuff is

1. First thing
2. Second thing
3. Third thing

At the moment, I don't know any way to get there.

And I don't know where I can read about how these things work on Mahalo either. So looking forward to seeing some answers to your question.

As far as editing pages its been rather challenging and i hope they dont start taking peoples pages after this first week they should wait till all the bugs are out.
