Is there a Soccer Hall of Fame or are there Multiple Hall of Fames by country?
I was wondering if the sport of Soccer has a Hall Of Fame and if there is, where it is located. Would there be a World Soccer hall of Fame]], or does each country have it's own? If there was one for the world then who does the voting to elect the players and what countries would be represented? Also, what criteria are used for a player to be granted entry? Wouldn’t it be difficult to compare players from different leagues and potentially different levels of play? Who are some of the players currently enshrined?

If the sports of basketball have the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame the football also has its own version in various countries. The United States have one and it is the National Soccer Hall of Fame, which is based in New York, NY. This is an organization that gives recognition and accolades to the people that made great contributions to the game and soccer players that displayed awesome skills and garnered lofty achievements.
The Canadians also have their own Hall of Fame and this coming June 5, 2010 the organization will enshrine Canadians Silvana Burtini, Gordie Ion and Dr. Walter Thompson, builders Stuart Brown and Brian Avey, Pioneer Awardee John Russell and Toronto Metros of Croatia and the Vancouver Firefighters are also set to be inducted.
Brutini scored career 38 goals for Canada and Ion is a member of the Canadian first Men’s World Cup team.
In other countries honors are given to its outstanding football players by making them as Athlete of the Year. They will be honored for many years to come as part of the country’s history and winning tradition.
