Is there a Pandora-type site to find new book authors I'd like?

Big fan of Chuck Klosterman, Dave Eggers, George Saunders and Amazon keeps churning out the same recommendations. Looking for a new way to find some books I'd like.
Tip for best answer: M$2.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Although still in Beta, BookLamp.org's stated goal is to be a 'Pandora' for books.

Here's a site description:

BookLamp.org matches readers to books through an analysis of writing styles, similar to the way that Pandora.com matches music lovers to new music. Do you like Stephen King’s It, but thought it was too long? BookLamp allows you to find books with a similar level of tone, tense, perspective, action, description, and dialog - while at the same time allowing you to specify details like... half the length. It’s impervious to outside influences - like advertising - that impact socially driven recommendation systems, and isn’t reliant on a large user base to work. Take a look at the above video to see how we do it in detail.

just a correction:

BookLamp was founded prior to the unveiling of Pandora.com

The correlation is one that has developed with the popularity of Pandora, and the apparent similarities to the Music Genome Project. Potentially very powerful.

I just tried this website and it is amazing. I read a lot of books by a particular author and got bored of it and I have been looking for another book to read by any author similar to the one I was reading. I have not been able to come up with anything. I looked at this site that you suggested and now I have some books to look into. I even bookmarked this site so I can go back to it.

A blog post about Book Army was posted on boingboing earlier today.
I copy and paste part of it here:
Bookarmy.com is a London-based start-up aiming to be the last.fm of books â€" and we're gathering steam on our mission to link every book and every author on earth.
A month into public beta, the site's already throwing up some curious connections. Neil Gaiman and Lewis Caroll? Ray Bradbury and George Orwell? Charles Stross and Fyodor Dostoevsky? Anything goes: Bookarmy recommendations are generated by members themselves, who can mix and match similar reads from a full bibliographic database. The site also give readers space to host online libraries of their favourite books -- and compares their tastes to refine its recommendations.

Big-name authors already active on Bookarmy include 'Alchemist' author Paulo Coelho and 'Jumper' scribe Steven Gould. Publisher HarperCollins recently took a stake in the business, which should mean not just bags of multimedia on the way but potentially access to all manner of great content as the ebook revolution gathers pace!

The answer to this question is BookLamp.org. BookLamp will surely implement social aspects in the years to come, but social recommendations are limiting by their subjective nature. They are certainly better than the absent alternative.

I'm excited to see what booklamp will have to offer in the near future. Something entirely different from anything else out there I hope.
