Is there a neural basis for Freud's id and superego?
Do you think there is a neural correlate for the Freudian concepts of id and superego? If so, what is it?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Based on statements at integratedsociopsychology.net, it was stated that based on Mark Solms studies on PET scans on non-brain-damaged people, it was confirmed that pre-frontal cortex in relation to Ego and Superego are stationary during REM sleep compared to the Limbic areas which has something to do with memory and motivation have rapid activity. Furthermore, this study supports the studies done by Masao Ito which postulates that the id can be traced in the Limbic system at the same time the Ego and Superego are principally located in the frontal lobe of the cerebral cortex.
So the natural correlation for the Freudian concepts of id and superego can be traced to the cardinal features of dreaming.
