Is there a need to be worried about Pirates when on a cruise ship?
Are there any precautions each individual can take? Any tips or suggestions just in case some crazy pirates come along? Since these events seem to be happening, and making the news are cruise ships preparing themselves for such encounters? Or are cruise ships not that worried about it quite yet?
Where do these pirates normally lurk, do they intentionally position themselves in the line of boat/cruise travel?
And lastly, if YOU were to take a cruise, would you worry about possible pirate attack? Or do you feel this whole pirate thing is a joke and is no big deal?

With the high straight sides of the cruise ships they are almost impossible to climb and that is how a pirate would access one of these large ships. Ships have taken to closing off the decks while passing through the gulf area so that there is no way to reach the passengers. the Somali pirates use automatic rifles to hijack the ships and keeping passengers below and in the interior of the ship will keep them safe.
So it looks like they are protecting the passengers and keeping them out of harms way.

M$And to answer if I would feel safe on a cruise ship, I would almost definitely, aside from the scare of sickness and claustrophobic-ness. These attacks aren't to worried about and just for some added knowledge, cruise ships that travel in international waters have guns and people trained to use them.
I hope this helps, but on a personal note: cruise-ships are bad vacations.
