Yes. Actually the theory of evolution simply suggests we evolved, it doesn't suggest how that evolution began. A mid-ground then would be some sort of "God" started the process of evolution or tampered with it. There are theories often attached with evolution such as the big-bang theory mentioned that may not line up with creationism and creationism often suggests god just created humans which would be against evolution. The idea of a mid-ground is that both sides give in on some points though. I know people that believe in this mid-ground.

Personally I think that both theories have a place in school. Creationism in history along side religion where it belongs and evolution in science where it belongs. Knowledge is power no matter how many people call it the truth.

I don't see how there could be. One believes that the life on the Planet started with a Big Bang and the other believed God put us here. So maybe God made the Big Bang happen.

First, let me say that I am an atheist that was once a Christian but then put down faith for science. With that said:

The further you go back in time, the more mired in suspicion science becomes, and the same can be said for religion.
I was once one of the best arguers I know for God and creation. I have personally converted a few people. Since then, I, by choice refuse to convert anyone to my beliefs because that is disparaging faith, and quite a bit different than giving a lost soul something to believe in.
There are three primary points of interest I have argued when still of God, and once had a few more, but... it's not my 'bag' any more.
Count them down:

3- God said "Let there be light!"- A scientifically proven fact that the universe started from a point. Literally. and from that point was an explosion.

2- God flooded the world- Also proven by science to have occurred. The entire world is marked with a flood that happened simultaneously. So, now we have a scale of birth to recorded history. (almost every culture records the existence of a "great flood" that includes a "gatherer" of all known life.)

1- We actually look to science for proof on this one. The theory of evolution has a few snags. Not to say it isn't a solid theory... but we did only recently discover there were at least 4 different categories of 'human'. Whats more, the one that is marked as our "evolutionary line" quite honestly sprung up from nowhere! No remains have (so far) linked us to ANYTHING before. So, could this be the physical point God touched man and set him in motion?

We have learned, though many refuse to accept, that the bible has a slew of inconsistencies. A thinking religious person would look at these and conclude mistranslations or misinterpretations. I know, I know. How dare I say the bible is inaccurate.

Good thing I'm on Conundrums for this, because that points to another conundrum:

God said you're damned for adding to or taking from the bible.

Man is imperfect.

Man wrote the bible.

Different languages have different (and sometimes unique) words that don't mean the same once translated.

One of the more blatant ones: Jesus was a carpenter. The middle east as a whole hardly has trees. Israel only recently had irrigation, which hardly helps with the abundance of sand and rock. So unless the secrets of 'car pooling' to work is a rediscovered ancient technique, Jesus was NOT a carpenter. The original text roughly translates, "Jesus worked/built with his hands," Jesus was a mason.

My favorite example of removed text? Two books of Daniel- one which includes the slaying of a dragon, and the other where Daniel proves that a guy masquerading as a "mortal god" was actually a real god. How? Proving he did not eat as a man would... by slaying the god's priests and priestesses who where secretly eating for him.

Will creationism and evolution every come together? Likely not. No one likes being wrong about rhetoric.
