Not quite. Some people might consider sci fi music to be scores written for science fiction films. For that, there is a lot of incredible music to choose from, ranging from the majesty of John Williams' Star Wars score to the strange 80s synth tones of Flight of the Navigator. Occasionally you find musicians online who will choose the label "sci fi" for their music because they believe the music captures a certain possibly futuristic sound, but there is no official genre.
A good example of a soundtrack that embodies the "sound" of science fiction is the Blade Runner soundtrack written by Vangelis. I read an article in anthropology class once where Vangelis discussed the process of writing the soundtrack. Shockingly, the soundtrack was basically created on the spot; he was given the film, screened it in a room and wrote/played out the soundtrack as he watched it. An incredible feat.
The soundtrack for Blade Runner is considered to be one of the greatest film soundtracks of all time, particularly for a science fiction genre. It took many years for the record company to release the soundtrack, and even longer for them to release the full version. It is now available in its entirety.
