Is there a cure for chlamydia?

Does it just take antibiotics to clear up a case of chlamydia? Is there a website or forum that discusses chlamydia and what I can do to get rid of it?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

A course of antibiotics is all it should take to clear up a chlamydia infection. A trip to a doctor is a good idea. Chlamydia can cause long term damage if the infection is not treated.

It's probably a good idea to let any recent partners know about it, as some people will not show symptoms of the infection.

Chlamydia is curable. You have to treat it with antibiotics as it is a bacterial infection. You have to take medication simply for more or less 2 weeks.
The following will be helpful,
• Doxycycline 100 mg 2-3 times a day for 10-14 days, or
• Zithromax® (azithromycin) 1.0 gm (4 x 250 mg) a single dose, or
• Zithromax® Z-pak® (azithromycin) - 500mg on day 1, followed by 1 tab (250mg) once a day for 4 more days
It is advisable to consult with a doctor before taking any medicine.
